CURREY & COMPANYShannon Koszyk’s aesthetic is edgy, sexy, dark, and dangerous, yet it appeals to a wide range of jewelry and design devotees. Based in Seattle, Shannon has been designing distinctive jewelry for the past six years. Currey & Company was delighted to introduce lighting designed by Ms. Koszyk at the 2013 Fall High Point Market.
As with her jewelry designs, Shannon’s lighting is multi-layered and peppered with historical and religious symbols. Fashion plays a big part in her designs, from the tailored look of Ralph Lauren to the discreet opulence of Alexander McQueen. Her new products are both ethereal fantasia and ruggedly tough with a strong Rock ‘N’ Roll influence.
R13 DENIMIn 2017 Chris Leba owner and designer of R13 reached out and asked if I would like to collaborate on his 2017 spring runway show part of New York Fashion Week. Being familiar with R13 I said yes of course. We worked together for a few weeks and came up with several styles, some that I still offer in my collection today.
It was so much fun. Seeing it come alive on models was amazing. I flew to NYC and spent a few days with the R13 team in their NY studio as they cast the models and pulled the outfits together with the jewelry. It was so great to work with so many skilled cutting-edge designers. It pushed me in a few different ways. I am grateful for the experience. Seeing what it takes to not only put a collection together but to see what it takes to put a runway show together, amazing.
TUESDAY NIGHT BAND PRACTICEThis was such a great experience for me. I met the designers from TNBP online actually. I was in the middle of Dallas Market and it was slow so a friend and I left and decided to go and checkout some of the local shops. We walked into a store called Traffic that was inside the newly renovated Joule hotel that we were dying to check out. I found these amazing tee-shirts, like the best ever concert t-shirts. They were made by TNBP so I contacted them and asked if they wanted to do a collaboration.
They are based between London and Bali. They said yes, send us some pieces were doing a presentation that’s sponsored by Marshall amps for London Fashion week. So that’s where it started, they showed my pieces with their collection for a season during London and Paris Fashion weeks. Rikka the women’s designer met up with my in NYC in2017 and attended the R13 Runway show. So much fun working with and meeting like minded designer’s forma all over the world.
Gabrielle is one of my dearest and oldest friends, she has my whole heart, always has since we met when we were 16. We were fast friends, boarding school. Met up again later in San Francisco in the early 90's. Picked up right where we left off. I was taken with music and design, always torn. Gabrielle went music, I went design. She became a rock, then food photographer ending up in New Orleans. I ended up in jewelry, moved to Seattle in the mid 90's. The rest is history. She understands me like no other, we work well together, she makes everything look better. She's a great friend, photographer, stylist and so much more.
